Who is MiamiFlute?

By day, Dr. Kathleen Kerstetter is an Assistant Professor and the Coordinator of Music Education at Florida International University, in Miami, FL. She is responsible for all graduate and undergraduate music education majors in the FIU School of Music. As faculty sponsor of the FIU Chapter of Collegiate Music Educators National Conference (CMENC), her chapter has been named a National Chapter of Excellence for their work with Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Currently, FIU CMENC is preparing a free music workshop in the Cayman Islands in July, 2010. Dr. Kerstetter’s research involves technology in the music classroom at all levels. Some of the professional organization in which she is a member include MENC, TI:ME, ATMI, and ISTE.

On nights, weekends, early breakfast, school holidays, and play dates, Kathy is a mother of two beautiful children. Matilda is 2 years, and Lane is just under a year old. These energetic and bright kids, along with her husband Dave, are her true inspiration.
